Howard's rock damaged and police investigate

Howard's rock has been damaged as someone removed the plastic covering and broke off a chunk of the rock. Police are investigating.
I can tell you right now the obvious suspects would be a South Carolina fan.
I think it is sad when something that has so much history to it is damaged like this. Read on for more info on this legendary rock.

What is Howard's rock?

While driving through death valley on the way to California, Clemson Alumni S.C. Jones stopped and picked up the rock and gave it to Coach Frank Howard, he kept it in his office for years.
Before the 1966 season he was cleaning up his office and told Gene Willimon to get that rock out of his office,throw it away he didn't care.
Instead he had the rock put on a pedestal at the top of the hill on the east endzone.
Howard's Rock was unveiled on Sept. 24th, 1966 as Clemson rallied from 18 points down to beat Virginia 40-35.
The following year Coach told his players that if they would give 110% they could touch the rock but if they weren't then they could keep their filthy hands off it.

Alabama sends a record nine player to the NFL

The 2013 NFL draft is over and Alabama set a new record sending nine players to the NFL.
Here are the players and the teams that selected them.

1. Dee Milliner - 9th selection of 1st round - New York Jets
2. Chance Warmack - 10th selection of 1st round - Tennessee Titans 
3. DJ Fluker - 11th selection of 1st round - San Diego Chargers
4. Eddie Lacy - 2nd round - overall 61st pick - Green Bay Packers 
5. Nico Johnson - 4th round - overall 99th pick - Kansas City Chiefs 
6. Barrett Jones - 4th round - overall 113th pick - St. Louis Rams 
7. Jessie Williams - 5th round - overall 137th pick - Seattle Seahawks 
8. Quinton Dial - 5th round - overall 157th pick - San Francisco 49ers 
9. Michael Williams -7th round - overall 211th pick - Detroit Lions

Biggest Surprises

I think that Dee Milliner dropping from a projected number 6 to 9 was a small surprise.

Also I think that Eddie Lacy being selected in the 2nd round is a shock, I think he is as good as any running back in the draft especially since Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina had that season ending injury.

There were two other running backs selected before Eddie and surprisingly no running back was selected in the first round of the draft.

That has not happened since 1963.

Finally Barrett Jones had one of the most decorated careers in Alabama history and most NFL teams are looking for linemen or possible centers, so him going in the fourth round has to be my personal biggest surprise. But what do I know I'm just a blogger.

The good news

Since Nick Saban has arrived at Alabama we have had some of the best recruiting years ever and 2013 is no exception.

Alabama has the #1 recruiting class of 2013 with (four) 5 star commitments,(thirteen) 4 star commitments and (eight) three star commitments.

A.J. McCarron will be back to lead the offense and the defense is loaded.

I think that Alabama will come out ranked #1 and have a good shot at being the National Champs again.

Jon Jones wins and sets up possible superfight

Jon Jones destroyed Chael Sonnen this Saturday night with a first round stoppage in the UFC 159 title fight.
Many people including myself consider Jon "Bones" Jones to be the greatest pound for pound fighter in the world, the title that Anderson Silva now holds.

It has been reported that Anderson Silva has called the UFC's president Dana White and requested a bout with Jones, if  this super fight happens it will be the biggest fight in UFC history.

Jon Jones has now defended his title 6 consecutive fights, tying the record held by Tito Ortiz and he is so young and talented, I just don't see anyone stopping him right now,including Anderson Silva.

JaMarcus Russell is making a NFL comeback

JaMarcus Russell is 27 years old and is attempting to make a NFL comeback.
Claiming he does not want to be remembered as a failure the former #1 draft pick is being tutored by NFL qb Jeff Garcia on technique and Hall of fame running back Marshall Faulk will be teaching him to read defenses.

The 6 ft 6 in quarterback will also work out at the TEST football academy.
Even though he has not played since 2009, I think JaMarcus will be successful in his comeback.
He has his weight down to 308 lbs and a positive outlook.
Watch out NFL JaMarcus Russell will be back.

Rex Ryan involved in a 3 car pile up

Jets head coach Rex Ryan was involved in a 3 car pile up after he reportedly ran a red light.

Rex was driving his red Mustang down a road in Bethlehem,Pa around 6 p.m. last Monday when he allegedly ran the light and rammed another car,which then crashed into a 3rd vehicle.. according to deadspin.com.
According to the report Rex denied that he was speeding but DID NOT deny that he ran the red light.
Police described the damage to all the vehicles as moderate and nobody was injured,Rex was not even cited in the incident.
I guess he just capped off another crappy season with another accident. GEEZ...

Baltimore Ravens to play San Francisco forty niners in Superbowl 2013

The San Francisco 49ers proved that they deserve to be going to the Superbowl by defeating The Atlanta Falcons after falling behind by 17 points, but after halftime the 49er defense did not give up a single point.
Atlanta had a chance to win but stalled in the red zone with 2 incompletions as time ran down.

In a game that surprised many The Baltimore Ravens destroyed the New England Patriots,Joe Flacco the Ravens QB simply picked apart the Patriots defense easily completing touchdown passes while Tom Brady could not find a way to stop the Baltimore defense,they hit him hard and often.
Congrats to Baltimore's Ray Lewis who is going to retire after this season,he had his defense ready to play today and they destroyed the Patriots 28-13

I think the Ravens will have to be favored to win the Superbowl, they are playing to good on both sides of the ball, I will go ahead and make a prediction The Ravens win 24-21 in a close game against the 49ers.

Adrian Peterson is running towards history.

AP is having an MVP type year and is making a run toward history.
Adrian needs 208 yards today to break the NFL's season rushing record of 2,105 yards set by Eric Dickerson in 1984.
Adrian needs 102 yards to break the coveted 2000 yard rushing mark.
If the Vikings win and get in the playoffs, it may be enough to put him ahead of  Peyton Manning in the NFL's most valuable player award and he certainly would deserve it.

The Vikings play the Green Bay Packers and if they win they will get a wildcard into the playoffs.
That being said lets face it,does anyone think that Minnesota is a playoff team without Adrain "AP" Peterson, I don't think so.
AP also should win the comeback player of the year award as well but the NFL is known as being a quarterbacks league and again Peyton Manning could get that award too, I really think it depends on whether The Vikings make the playoffs, if they win I don't know how any voter could deny that Adrain is the MVP and comeback player of the year.
But what do I know I'm just a blogger.
